Zoom reaches $85 million settlement over user privacy, ‘Zoombombing’
Zoom Video Communications Inc has agreed to pay $85 million and improve its security measures to settle a lawsuit alleging that it had breached users' privacy by sharing personal data with Facebook, Google, and LinkedIn, and allowing hackers to disrupt Zoom meetings, known as Zoombombing. The proposed settlement, filed on Saturday, must be approved by U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh in San Jose, California. Subscribers in the proposed class action would be eligible for a 15% refund on their core subscriptions or $25, whichever is greater, while others could receive up to $15.0
