Tennis star Djokovic wins court battle to stay in Australia
Novak Djokovic, the world's number one tennis player, was freed from Australian immigration detention on Monday after winning a court battle to stay in the country and compete for a record 21st Grand Slam title at the upcoming Australian Open. Judge Anthony Kelly declared the federal government's decision to revoke Djokovic's visa due to a disagreement over his medical exemption from COVID-19 vaccination requirements to be "unreasonable" and ordered his release. Nevertheless, lawyers for the federal government stated that Immigration Minister Alex Hawke was reserving the right to use his personal power to revoke Djokovic's visa again.0
