On Wednesday, hundreds of thousands of people in Myanmar took to the streets to demonstrate against the army's claim that the public supported its overthrow of Aung San Suu Kyi. The protesters vowed not to be intimidated in their efforts to restore civilian rule. In response to the protests, the junta held a news conference on Tuesday, promising a fair election and a transfer of power. She is now facing a charge of violating a Natural Disaster Management Law, as well as charges of illegally importing six walkie talkie radios. Her next hearing is scheduled for March 1.0
