Motor racing-Verstappen wins first F1 title in last lap drama
Max Verstappen of Red Bull won the Formula One championship on Sunday, preventing Lewis Hamilton from achieving an eighth title. The 24-year-old Dutch driver became his country's first champion with a last-lap overtake at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Mercedes still took the constructors' title for the eighth consecutive year, but their streak of double dominance was broken. Two protests were made after the race, but they were dismissed. Mercedes has since stated their intention to appeal the result.0
