Italy crowned European champions after shootout win over England
Italy won the European Championship for the first time since 1968 on Sunday, with Gianluigi Donnarumma saving two penalties in a shootout to defeat England 3-2 after the game ended 1-1 following extra time. Luke Shaw opened the scoring for England with a superb goal after two minutes, but Italy equalized through Leonardo Bonucci after 67 minutes. Donnarumma then saved from Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka, while Federico Bernardeschi, Bonucci and Domenico Berardi all scored for the Italians in the shootout.0
