This comes at a time of increasing military and political pressure from China, which still claims Taiwan as its own. In the event of a war with China, these ARP soldiers could be sent out on dangerous missions to scout enemy locations and call in attacks. Meanwhile, in the Pacific Islands, a much more immediate danger was posed by an underwater volcano that erupted near Tonga. Waves as high as 2.7 meters high reached the Tongan capital of Nuku’alofa, and authorities from across the region are now assessing the damage. This task has been made more difficult due to the damage caused to an undersea cable, which has disrupted international communication. Stay informed about the stories that matter this week.0
