Hundreds evacuated as red-hot lava threatens homes in Spain’s La Palma
On Tuesday, over 700 people were told to evacuate their homes on the Spanish island of La Palma as lava from the Cumbre Vieja volcano moved closer to their community. According to the Canary Islands Volcanic Emergency Plan (Pevolca), between 700 and 800 people from La Laguna had to leave their homes with their belongings and pets. Enrique, a 50-year-old Spanish homeowner, expressed his distress to Reuters, saying, "We want to pick up documents and other things because our whole life is in that house and we cannot collect over 30 years in five minutes.”0
