EU to debate Russia sanctions after Navalny protest arrests
On Monday, the European Union will contemplate imposing new sanctions on Russian individuals following the arrest of over 3,000 people in Russia on Saturday who were calling for the release of Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny. Lithuania's foreign minister, who is attending a meeting of the EU's 27 top diplomats in Brussels, stated that a shift is occurring in Russia that the bloc must back, particularly after Navalny's arrest upon his return to Russia from Germany. He declared that “the EU needs to send a very clear and decisive message that this is not acceptable” and urged for more sanctions on Russian individuals.0
