It has been known for a long time that looking into the eyes of a robot can be a disconcerting experience. This phenomenon has been given the name "uncanny valley". Thanks to researchers from the Istituto Italiano Di Tecnologia (IIT) in Genoa, we now know that it is more than just a feeling.
